Plinth hire for events, launches and exhibitions

A plinth lifts a product off the floor to where people look at it. At a launch, an exhibition stand or a shopping centre activation, that is often all a hero product needs. If the event is a one-off, hiring the plinths saves you buying and storing them.

What plinths can I hire?

Our hire plinths are our portable plinths. They are the same plinths we sell:

• Light but strong. The base is 5mm extruded polypropylene and the top is 12mm melamine-faced board. A standard 400mm square, 900mm high plinth weighs 3.7kg, yet each plinth holds up to 70kg.
• Flat-packed. The base folds flat, so several plinths fit in one carton or carry bag.
• Quick to set up. Unfold the base, push in the square former, add the top. One person can build a plinth in under two minutes, with no tools.
• Easy to clean. The melamine top is food-grade and washable, which suits sampling and product demonstrations.

Sizes

Portable plinths come in four base sizes. The standard height is 900mm.

A flush-fit top is standard. An overhang top sits wider than the base and gives the product a ledge. For heavier or taller pieces, pick the larger base so the plinth stands steady.

What to check before you hire

• The weight of what goes on top. Each portable plinth holds up to 70kg. Weigh the product, including any stand, screen or case, and keep the load centred on the top.
• The height people will see it from. 900mm suits most products seen by people standing. If you need a different height, ask when you request your quote.
• Power and cables. If the product needs power, such as a screen or a lit sample, ask for a cable entry cap so the lead runs inside the plinth instead of across the top.
• Security. Portable plinths have an open top surface. For valuable or easily lifted products, plan to have staff beside the plinth, or look at our showcase plinths, which are made to order.
• The floor. Plinths stand best on a flat, hard floor. On thick carpet or a raised exhibition floor, test one before the doors open and check it doesn't rock.

Plain, coloured or branded?

Portable plinths come plain in white or black, which suits most launches and keeps the focus on the product. For a branded look you have three options:

• Stretch-fabric sleeve. A printed four-sided sleeve slips over the base. It is washable and can be swapped for the next campaign.
• Printed graphics fixed to the base, for full colour on every side.
• Cut vinyl lettering or a printed top, for a logo without full graphics.

Branded options are printed for you, so allow production time before the event.

Which events suit hired plinths?

• Product launches. One plinth per hero product, at eye level or slightly below, so guests and cameras see it clearly. Our guide to plinths for product launches covers heights, finishes and lighting.
• Exhibition stands. Plinths show samples without crowding a counter, and they pack down into a small space at bump-out.

• Awards nights and corporate functions. Plinths hold trophies, sponsor products or a guest book at the entrance.

How to hire plinths

1. Tell us the event. Give us the dates, the venue and how many plinths you need, in which sizes.
2. Say whether you want them branded. Portable plinths can carry your logo or full graphics, including a printed stretch-fabric sleeve that slips over the base. Branded plinths take about 1.5 weeks to produce once your print-ready artwork is approved, so ask about branding when you request your quote.
3. We quote. You get one quote for the plinths, any graphics and delivery.
4. Set up, use, send back. Build the plinths on site, then fold them flat and return them after the event. If you'd rather not handle it, our installation and pack-down team can set up and pack down for you.

Hire or buy?

Hiring suits a one-off launch or a single show, and teams with nowhere to store display kit. Buying makes more sense when the plinths go out several times a year, or when you want permanent branding that matches your stand.
