Timber Plinths

Timber or wooden plinths are perfect for art galleries, museums and showroom areas that do not require regular transportation of the plinths.

Displays 2 Go manufactures hundreds of "gallery style" timber plinths for use around the country, which are the most popular style and are finished in a lightly textured white satin paint.

Made from 16mm thick MDF, timber plinths are reasonably heavy - around 15kg for an average size - and can support weights up to 150kg without additional reinforcing. Talk to us if you have a super-heavy structure to put on your plinth.

Choosing timber for your plinths means you will be getting a highly robust material with a huge number of options for surface finishes and coatings.

(Price includes: 5-sided timber plinth made from 16mm MDF)

These strong wooden display plinths can support up to 150kgs and will last for years! The melamine finishes are hard-wearing and food-grade surfaces - similar to what you would find on the cupboards in a domestic kitchen.

The plinths are designed for indoor display use.  Whilst they can be used outdoors for an event or other short-term use they should not be left outdoors for long periods as the timber will absorb water over time.

Standard widths are 300mm, 400mm, 500mm and 600mm. If you have specific sizing requirements just let us know and we'll be happy to help.

Heights range from 100mm to 1200mm. If you need something out of the ordinary, just ask.

A 'standard' plinth size is 400mm square and 900mm high.

Standard material for timber plinths is a 16mm MDF, which is both strong and cost effective.  MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is a dense composite timber board with a smooth finish and high strength.

Note we do not recommend the use of particleboard or chipboard as it is not a sufficiently robust material.

The plinths are finished in white melamine laminate as standard, with custom colours available on request. The laminate provides a hard wearing, low sheen and washable surface with minimal light reflection.

We typically offer colours from the Laminex and Formica colour ranges, which feature a modern selection of solid colours and woodgrains. Click to view the Laminex and Formica colour range chart.

The plinths can also be finished in painted or printed coatings, which provides the opportunity to customise the plinth to your exact specifications. Painted plinths can be in matt, satin or gloss paint finishes.
